Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania Offers Volunteer Training

Strasburg, Lancaster County, PA – Spring training has been scheduled for volunteers at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. On Thursday, April 9 and Saturday, April 11, Museum volunteers will be enjoying a number of informative sessions designed to expand their railroading horizons.

Among the scheduled training sessions, volunteers will learn about the colorful and fascinating history of the Museum’s GG1 No. 4800 electric locomotive, how steel mills use railroads for transporting materials and tips and techniques for interpreting the Museum’s premier railroad collection for visitors.

Interested individuals still have time to register and join the Museum’s great team of volunteers before spring training begins. Volunteer training is open only to current, active Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania volunteers. To get started as a history-making volunteer at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, contact volunteer/program coordinator Elizabeth Myers today at (717)687-8628, ext 3009, or programs@rrmuseumpa.org.

The opportunities are endless for Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania volunteers, and so are the rewards. The schedule is flexible, the atmosphere is congenial and the process is easy. With no previous experience required, you can learn about trains, railroading and railroad history and give Museum visitors a memorable and meaningful experience.

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is home to a world-class collection of more than 100 historic American locomotives and railroad cars, a vast library and archives, an immersive education center, a working restoration shop, changing exhibits, special events and a Museum store.

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, with the active support of the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. For more information, visit www.rrmuseumpa.org or call (717)687-8628.
