EARTH MOVES THIS SATURDAY NIGHT WITH NEVADA NORTHERN’S GEOLOGY DINNER TRAIN

Rockin’ & Rollin’ Geology Train Gains Popularity with Adults and Kids

Ely, NV—The Nevada Northern Railway Museum’s (NNRy) Annual Rockin’ & Rollin’ Geology Train rocks on once again this Sat., June 18 at 6:30 p.m. from the East Ely Depot at Avenue A and East 11th Street in Ely, Nevada – a 3.5 hour drive – or even faster plane ride from Las Vegas (via Great Lakes Airlines).

Roger Bowers, Ely’s own consulting geologist, has intrigued, tickled and mesmerized passengers with his laid-back geology presentations aboard the Nevada Northern Railway. The Geology Trains keep growing in popularity due to Bowers easy-to-follow presentation and the subject matter – recognizing rocks and minerals, finding treasure, and a bit on railroading and copper mining history. Bowers makes geology exciting and fun. His presentations are always well-received; and his finale – a show and tell of ore samples – always elicits a lot of oohs and aahs.

Dinner aboard the train will feature a typical meal that miners ate years ago. The Cornish pasty is basically a beef and potato sandwich, encrusted in a pie-crust-like shell. The meal will be prepared by Nevada Northern’s own Maggie O’Brien, and also includes an apple, cookie, soft drink and souvenir glass.

Roger Bowers has worked professionally as a geologist in Nevada and White Pine County since 1975. He is primarily an exploration geologist, studying geothermal and mineral resources. Bowers has been a consulting geologist since 1987 – exploring Nevada and the surrounding states primarily for geothermal resources.

Nevada Northern Railway’s Rockin’ and Rollin’ Geology Train provides a Saturday night that any adventurer on the road less travelled can easily enjoy – alone or with another. The Rockin’ and Rollin’ Geology Train offers a unique experience that is friendly, fun, informative, and tasteful. Nevada Northern Railway Museum, a National Historic Landmark, creates memories and makes history daily – be a part of it all…aboard!

Make your plans now for a rockin’ and rollin’ good time for the whole family on Nevada Northern’s Geology Train, this Sat., June 18 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the Rockin’ and Rollin’ Geology Train are just $46 for adults (13+), $25 (4-12), and under 4 are always free.
