On the 7th to the 10th June the Midland Railway – Butterley will be holding a Day Out With Thomas event.
Thomas and Diesel will be hauling trains and some of the Troublesome Trucks will be taught how to behave with Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller keeping an eye on all the activities.
The event will be opened at 1000 by Sir Topham Hatt on each day. The new Imagination Station will be in use at Butterley Station and in addition there will be a special play coach and a picnic coach in case of bad weather.
There will be the chance to join in with activities such as giving Thomas a drink and singing a special song with the Fat Controller. All the younger visitors will be able to take home a special souvenir and a Junior Engineers certificate.
There will also be a new Thomas G scale model train layout provided by Bachman, who have now launched this large scale model railway for Thomas.
Trains will be running from 1020 and will be calling at Swanwick Junction where visitors can alight and look round the two Railway Museums, Country Park, ride on the narrow gauge Golden Valley Light Railway, and visit the Demonstration Signal Box and Victorian Railwayman’s Church. There will also be the chance to see the first stage of the new Swanwick Station building open with the rebuilt Booking Hall, and shop open to visitors.
Alan Calladine the Midland Railway Trust Development Officer said” We are delighted that Thomas will be visiting us on the 7th to 10th June. The Fat Controller will be on hand to make sure that all the train behave and stop the Troublesome Trucks from playing any tricks on Taffy our own special shunting engine.”
