Top Gear’s James May tried for the second time to run his HO scale steam loco 9.1 real miles, this time in a race against Miniature Wunderland of Hamburg. Looks like we’ll have to wait until fall to see who really won.

The James May event originally was part of a BBC series filmed in 2009, called James May’s Toy Stories and was featured in Episode 6, Hornby. In that show they were trying to recreate a 10 mile run from Barnstaple to Bideford. Rain, dirt and vandals all contributed to mechanical failure and he fell short of going the distance. I didn’t realize they were going to do a second attempt at the record. Glad it finally worked.
Thanks for the Clarification.
I’d heard bits of that, but you’ve tied it nicely up. Somebody must have bought the shoot, so I wonder if there’s another Toy Story in the works?
Thanks,
Neil
